This beautiful peace dove ornament is carved from the tagua nut, a sustainably harvested nut native to the rainforests of Ecuador. This hard nut is often referred to as vegetable ivory, which it strongly resembles. Each piece is hand carved by members of the Tagua Initiative®, a conservation-based enterprise in northwest Ecuador.

The dove measures approximately 2 ½” long and 1” tall. It is fitted with a brass loop and tied with a bright red satin ribbon with which to hang it. The dove comes in an attractive balsa wood box that makes an attractive gift box or practical storage container. Since each piece is hand-carved from a natural material, each piece is unique and will age to a soft ‘ivory’ color over time. A Fairly-Traded product.
